FPI Predicts BYU vs Texas Tech, Updates Win Projection for the Cougars

The Cougars play Texas Tech in a pivot game on the schedule

After a blowout loss to TCU, BYU returns home to host the Texas Tech Red Raiders. BYU is 4-2 and facing a critical game if the Cougars hope to go to a bowl game. The Red Raiders are 3-4 and coming off a 38-21 loss to Kansas State. ESPN's predictive college football algorithm, the football power index, updated its prediction for BYU-Texas Tech. FPI gives BYU a 33.1% chance to beat Texas Tech at home.

Before the blowout loss to TCU, FPI projected BYU to finish with a 6.0-6.0 record and gave BYU a 65.0% chance to finish with six or more wins. After the bye week, FPI downgraded BYU's projected record to 5.4-6.6 and now gives BYU just a 42.2% chance to finish with six or more wins. FPI projects BYU to be the underdog in all six of its remaining games.
