Seven BYU Players Make the Reese's Senior Bowl Watchlist

On Wednesday morning, the Reese's Senior Bowl released its 2023 watchlist. Six BYU players were included on the watchlist: linebacker Ben Bywater, linebacker Max Tooley, offensive lineman Caleb Etienne, offensive lineman Connor Pay, tight end Isaac Rex, offensive lineman Ian Fitzgerald, and quarterback Kedon Slovis.
The Senior Bowl is the premier college all-star game that prepares college players for the NFL and allows those players to work out in front of NFL coaches. "Our scouting team has been working since last February to identify the “best of the best” draft prospects at every level of college football for the 2024 NFL Draft," the Senior Bowl stated. "This list does not include many true or redshirt juniors who could become eligible as December 2023 (or earlier) graduates."
Last year, BYU's Jaren Hall, Puka Nacua, and Blake Freeland participated in the Senior Bowl before they became NFL Draft picks. It's also worth noting that BYU quarterback Kedon Slovis turned down a senior bowl invite last year to return to college football and transfer to BYU.
Since BYU offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia is a redshirt sophomore, he was not included on the watchlist. Suamataia is the top 2024 NFL Draft prospect on BYU's roster this season.
The Senior Bowl watchlist highlights the top-end talent that BYU got through the transfer portal. Three of the six players on the watchlist transferred to BYU after last season.
It also highlights the strength of BYU's offensive line in 2023. The offensive line has the most NFL talent of any position group on the roster. There's the potential for multiple BYU offensive lineman to be drafted after the 2023 season.
BYU kicks off the 2023 season in 10 days with a home game against Sam Houston State.
