Sportsbook Gives BYU Lowest Odds to Win the Big 12

BetOnline is not high on BYU's chances to win the Big 12 in its inaugural season

The college football season is inching closer and BYU is preparing for its inaugural season in the Big 12. On Thursday, the sportsbook BetOnline released the Big 12 championship betting odds. BYU was given the lowest odds of any Big 12 school to win the Big 12 title. Below are the betting odds for each school.

Big 12 Title Odds (BetOnline.ag)

  1. Texas (11/10) (+110)
  2. Oklahoma (3/1) (+300)
  3. Kansas State (5/1) (+500)
  4. Texas Tech (10/1) (+1000)
  5. Baylor (16/1) (+1600)
  6. TCU (16/1) (+1600)
  7. Iowa State (33/1) (+3300)
  8. Kansas (40/1) (+4000)
  9. Oklahoma State (40/1) (+4000)
  10. Cincinnati (50/1) (+5000)
  11. UCF (50/1) (+5000)
  12. West Virginia (66/1) (+6600)
  13. Houston (75/1) (+7500)
  14. BYU (100/1) (+10000)

BYU was given 100/1 odds to win the Big 12. What does that mean? That means that if the 2023 season was played 101 times, the BetOnline model would expect BYU to win one time out of the 101.

Another way to think about BYU's odds: if a bettor places a $100 bet on BYU to win the Big 12, the payout would be $10,000 if BYU wins the Big 12.

Unsurprisingly, Texas has the best odds to win the Big 12 in 2023. BYU will travel to Austin to take on the Longhorns in late October. Behind Texas, Oklahoma has the best odds to win the Big 12 at +300. The Cougars will host the Sooners at Lavell Edwards Stadium in November.

Reigning champion Kansas State was given 5/1 odds to repeat as the Big 12 champion in 2023.

2022 national runner-up TCU was given 16/1 odds to win the Big 12 in 2023. BYU and TCU will renew their rivalry in October.
