On the same day that he returned home from an official visit in Provo, American Fork's Jett Nelson committed to BYU. Nelson, who is listed at 6'5, primarily plays wide receiver and tight end for American Fork High School.

BYU was the first school to offer Nelson a scholarship. He received the offer from BYU offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick, BYU defensive coordinator Jay Hill, and BYU wide receivers coach Fesi Sitake. After receiving an offer from BYU, he picked up a competing offer from SUU.

Nelson arrived in Provo for an official visit on Friday. After a successful official visit, Nelson locked down his recruitment and committed to the Cougars on Sunday.

Nelson has the physical tools to play either tight end, defensive end, or even wide receiver at the next level. BYU will get him into the program before deciding which position will best suit him. At American Fork, he has flashed good athleticism for his size and the room to add more weight. Adding weight will be a priority once he enrolls at BYU - he is currently listed at 210 pounds.

It's worth noting that Jett is the teammate of one of BYU's top targets: Davis Andrews. Andrews was on the official visit with Nelson this weekend. Andrews has taken official visits to Notre Dame, UCLA, Utah, and BYU. His trip to Provo was his final official visit before making his college decision.

Nelson is the seventh player to commit to BYU as part of 2024 recruiting class. He joins Siosefa Brown, Ryner Swanson, Dallin Johnson, Enoch Watson, Adney Reid, and Thomas Prassas. He is the second tight end commit in the 2024 class joining four-star recruit Ryner Swanson.
