Tight End Blake Bryce Commits to BYU

Bryce is a legacy recruit that picked BYU over a long list of P4 suitors

On Saturday, three-star tight end and legacy recruit Blake Bryce committed to Kalani Sitake and the BYU football program. Bryce, who preps at Newbury Park High School in California, committed to BYU over competing offers from NC State, Kansas, Louisville, Duke, Cal, Minnesota, and Arizona State among others. Blake is the son of former BYU tight end Gary Bryce.

Blake stars on both sides of the ball for his high school. He plays both tight end and defensive end. He has a big frame at 6'5 and 225 pounds and he could end up on either offense or defense at BYU. His versatility and athleticism at 6'5 made him a coveted prospect on the recruiting trail. Should he play tight end, which we think he will, he would be the first prospect to commit to new BYU tight ends coach Kevin Gilbride.

BYU has done a great job stockpiling talent at tight end. The Cougars have former four-star recruits Jackson Bowers and Ryner Swanson in that room, both of which could play significant roles for BYU this season. Getting Bryce into the pipeline ensures that BYU will have more talent and more depth in the future. He has reliable hands and knack for finding the openings in a defense.

Bryce is just the second player to commit to BYU as part of the 2025 recruiting class. He is joined by fellow BYU commit Tyler Payne. With Bryce and Payne in the fold, BYU is establishing a solid foundation to what could be a special 2025 class.
