Cal Men's Basketball to Make Trips to Duke and North Carolina in Inaugural ACC Season
In its debut in the Atlantic Coast Conference next season, the Cal men’s basketball team will make trips to play at two of the game’s most glamorous arenas, Duke’s Cameron Indoor Stadium and North Carolina’s Dean Smith Center.
The Bears will play home and away against three opponents: long-time rival Stanford along with SMU and North Carolina State. Stanford and SMU are regarded as Cal’s partner schools in the new ACC alignment, the conference announced Thursday.
The 20-game conference schedule will include home games only against Boston College, Florida State, Miami, Syracuse, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
And Cal will have road games only next season against Clemson, Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Pittsburgh.
Dates, game times and TV information will be announced at a later date.
The 2025 ACC men's basketball tournament will be held at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Bears are 2-2 all-time vs. Duke, including an 82-77 win fueled by Jason Kidd in the 1993 NCAA tournament. The two schools have never met on the Duke campus.
Cal is 1-4 all-time vs. North Carolina and twice played on campus at Chapel Hill. The Bears lost 71-47 at the “Dean Dome” during the 1997-98 season and 74-70 at the old Carmichael Auditorium during the 1973-74 campaign.
The Bears’ lone win vs. the Tar Heels was a 78-71 verdict at the Pete Newell Challenge at the Oakland Coliseum Arena on Dec. 29, 1998.
