Cal's women's basketball team prepared for its Pac-12 opener against No. 9 Stanford by crushing Louisiana-Monroe 79-55 on Thursday at Haas Pavilion.

The Bears improved their record to 10-2, which is their best 12-game record since 2017-2018, when they also started 10-2. Cal has not had a better beginning to its season since 2016-17, when it won its first 13 games.

Freshman Lulu Laditan-Twidale was the star for the Bears, scoring a career-high 21 points on 8-for-13 shooting in just 24 minutes of court time.

Cal scored the first 11 points of the game and never gave up the lead, although the Warhawks got within three points in the third quarter. Cal dominated from that point to win going away.

Leilani McIntosh had 13 points, seven assists and for turnovers for the Bears.

Louisiana-Monroe (8-3) was picked to finish 11th in the 14-team Sun Belt Conference, but gave Arkansas a scare earlier this season.

Cal's next game is its Pac-12 opener against ninth-ranked Stanford on December 29 in Berkeley.
