Cal's Jaydn Ott Adds AP First-Team All-Pac-12 Honors
Cal running back Jaydn Ott added Associated Press first-team all-Pac-12 honors a few days being named to the coaches’ first-team All-Pac-12 all-conference squad.
Ott leads the Pac-12 in rushing at 114.6 yards per game and his 1,260 yards are the seventh-best single-season total in Cal history. He is also a finalist for Polynesian player of the year.
The AP All-Pac-12 team was based on a panel of seven AP media members.
The main difference from the coaches All-Pac-12 team is that Cal linebacker Kaleb Elarms-Orr, who was merely honorable mention on the coaches all-conference team, was named to the second-team All-Pac-12 defense by AP.
However, Elarms-Orr entered the transfer portal a week ago and presumably won’t be with the Bears next season, although it’s unclear whether he will be on Cal’s roster for the Bears’ December 16 Independence Bowl game against Texas Tech. Players in the transfer portal typically do not play in bowl games; however, Cal coach Justin Wilcox noted this week that some of the Bears players in the portal might play in the bowl game.
Oregon's Bo Nix was named offensive player of the year, UCLA's Laiatu Latu was defensive player of the year and Washington's Kalen DeBoer is coach of the year. Those were the same selections in the coaches All-Pac-12 squads.
