Cal Football: Starting Time, TV Set for USC Game
Cal has a bye this week, and game time for the Golden Bears' October 28 game against USC in Berkeley has been set for a 1 p.m. start. The game will be televised on Pac-12 Network.
Game times and TV coverage for all six Pac-12 games on Saturday, October 28, were announced on Monday.
The big game that week is Oregon's game at Utah. That game is is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. Pacific time kickoff (1:30 p.m. Utah time) and will be televised by Fox.
Colorado continues to be a big drawing card, and Buffaloes game at UCLA on October 28 will start at 4:30 p.m. Pacific time and will be televised by ABC.
Cal (3-4, 1-3 Pac-12) and USC (6-1, 4-0) are both coming off disappointing losses. The Bears dropped a 34-14 game at Utah, while USC lost its first game against a ranked opponent, losing to No. 21 Notre Dame 48-20.
That loss dropped the Trojans ranking from No. 10 last week to No. 18 this week. USC quarterback Caleb Williams, the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner, threw three interceptions in the first half of the Notre Dame game after throwing just one pick in the first six games combined.
While Cal has this weekend off, USC will try to bounce back with a challenging game against No. 14 Utah on Saturday at 5 p.m. The game is in Los Angeles, which should help the Trojans, because Utah has won 18 straight games on its home field. The Utes kept that streak alive this past Saturday against Cal.
The Bears will be facing USC without inside linebacker Jackson Sirmon, a first-team all-Pac-12 selection last year who is out for the rest of the season with an injury. Cal redshirt freshman quarterback Fernando Mendoza sat out the closing minutes of the Utah game with an undisclosed injury, but he pronounced himself 100% healthy after the game.
Assuming USC is still ranked after Saturday's game against Utah, the Bears' October 28 game against the Trojans will represent the third of five straight games against ranked opponents for Cal.
