Cameron Jordan Drops Out of Top 10 in ESPN Edge-Rusher Rankings

Former Cal star had been a regular in this top-10 list voted on by NFL coaches, executives, players and scouts
In this story:

New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan has been considered one of the top edge rushers for a long time, but he dropped out of the top 10 in that category this year in ESPN’s respected NFL position rankings, which are based on a survey of NFL executives, coaches, scouts and players.

The former Cal standout was ranked No. 10 on this list last year, and No. 9 in both 2021 and 2020. Although this is the fourth year ESPN has conducted this survey and rankings, it noted last year that Jordan has been ranked as high as No. 5 in the edge-rusher category.

However, he only received honorable mention this year, which still means he is among the top 15, but slipping.

Here are ESPN’s top edge rushers for 2023:

1. Nick Bosa, 49ers

2. Myles Garrett, Browns

3. Micah Parsons, Cowboys

4. T.J. Watt, Steelers

5. Haason Reddick, Eagles

6. Maxx Crosby, Raiders

7. Brian Burns, Panthers

8. Matthew Judon, Patriots

9. Von Miller, Bills

10. Joey Bosa, Chargers

Honorable Mention:

Jaelan Phillips, Dolphins

Aidan Hutchinson, Lions

Trey Hendrickson, Bengals

Khalil Mack, Chargers

Cameron Jordan, Saints

Here is what ESPN said about Jordan this year:

Cameron Jordan, New Orleans Saints: The 34-year-old eight-time Pro Bowler doesn't look to be slowing down. He closed out his 12th NFL season with a 28% run stop win rate, 8.5 sacks and 66 tackles. "Pure power player ... He still has enough to know how to get home," a veteran NFL scout said. "Solid against the run. A key part of their scheme. Probably not as dynamic as he once was."

Jordan has 115.5 career sacks, which ranks second among all active players, behind only Von Miller.

Jordan had 8.5 sacks in 2022 when he was named to the Pro Bowl for the sixth consecutive year and for the eighth time overall.

ESPN will rank its top 10 at each position over the next few days, and former Cal players are likely to be named in some of those.
