Cameron Goode Makes an Impact - Or Takes an Impact With Head Butt
Miami linebacker Cameron Goode was the subject of an interesting video this past Sunday.
The former Cal standout has been on the Miami Dolphins active roster all season after spending the past two seasons on Miami's practice squad. Goode's playing time has been limited, but he got some TV time when he was the victim of a head butt from the Carolina Panthers' punter.
It's unclear what started the argument between Panthers punter Johnny Hekker and Goode, but it escalated to the point where Hekker pushed Goode. Then, as Goode lured him in, Hekker presented Goode with a head butt, as seen below.
Now we all know that a punter's head butt is not going to cause Goode to collapse as Goode tried to demonstrate. But Goode's flop was a nice acting job, and Hekker was hit with a penalty.
Obviously Goode is not an established star in the NFL, as the voice describing the incident in this video called the Dolphins player Sameron Goode, or at least that is what it sounds like.
Meanwhile, the men calling the game on TV had fun with it.
Kevin Harlan adds the comment: “DOWN GOES FRAZIER!”
Harlan and Trent Green were laughing.
And let’s be honest: Goode cannot be flopping like that against a punter even if he successfully drew a penalty. Have some pride out there.
Goode has been used primarily on special teams, which is why he was on the field when the Panthers were punting. Goode had one tackle in the Dolphins' 42-21 victory over the Panthers, and that tackle came on special teams.
However, Goode is a member of one of the most exciting teams in then NFL. The Dolphins are 5-1 and tied for the best record in the NFL.
Another former Cal player, Chris Brooks, is getting considerable playing time as a Miami running back. Brooks, who played his first four college seasons at Cal before transferring to BYU for his final season, had six rushing attempts for 28 yards on Sunday. He is the Dolphins' third-leading rusher this season with 94 yards on the ground.
