Luke Ferrelli, a three-star tight end and linebacker who had committed to Stanford in June, has changed his mind and is now committed to Cal for the class of 2024. He announced his commitment to Cal on social media on Monday.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Ferrelli is from Carlsbad, Calif. He is scheduled to graduate early from Carlsbad High School and plans to enroll at Cal in the upcoming spring semester.  That would allow him to participate in spring football practice in a few months and is expected to be a linebacker at Cal.

Ferrelli plans to enroll at Cal as a freshman on January 10 and begin taking classes on January 14. He expects to sign with Cal on December 20, which is the first day of he early signing period.

The decision to commit to Cal is the second change for Ferrelli. He originally committed to Arizona in April 2023, but then changed his mind and committed to Stanford two months later. Now he's committed to Cal, which offered him a scholarship just a few days ago.

Ferrelli took an unofficial visit to the Cal campus in the summer but never took an official visit to Berkeley.

Besides offers from Cal, Stanford and Arizona, Ferrelli also received offers from Texas A&M, UNLV and a number of other schools.

The 247 Sports Composite rankings rate Ferrelli as the nation's 124th-best linebacker prospect in the 2024 class.

Both Rivals and 247 Sports rate him as a three-star recruit, and Rivals lists him as an outside linebacker, which is probably the position he would play at Cal.
