Report: Cal TE Coach Tim Plough a Leading Candidate for UC Davis Job
Cal tight ends coach Tim Plough is a leading candidate to become UC Davis' head coach, according to a report by the Sacramento Bee.
The Bee reported that current Hornets head coach Dan Hawkins has resigned, leaving a vacancy.
Here is an excerpt from the Bee story.
Sources told The Bee that UC Davis has interest in negotiating with Tim Plough to become the 18th coach in the 108-year history of the football program, and he would be a familiar face. A tight ends coach at Cal, Plough is a one-time Aggies quarterback who had two assistant coaching stints with UC Davis, the second one under Hawkins.
Cal's tight ends have been an important part of a Cal offense that is averaging 31.6 points. Walk-on tight end Jack Endries is the Bears' fourth-leading receiver with 32 catches for 385 yards and two touchdowns.
Plough, 38, was UC Davis' offensive coordinator from 2017 through 2020, and was Boise State's offensive coordinator in 2021 and 2022 before being hired by Cal.
