Montana State All-Big Sky Transfer OL Rush Reimer Commits to Cal
Montana State offensive lineman Rush Reimer, a first-team all-Big Sky selection, announced that he has committed to transferring to Cal.
Reimer is the second transfer to Cal from the Big Sky, which is an FCS conference, as Idaho defensive back Marcus Harris committed to Cal over the weekend. And both Harris and Reimer received national recognition this year.
Harris was named to the first team of AP's FCS All-America team, and Reimer was named to the second-team FCS All-America squad.
A senior this season, the 6-foot-5, 300-pound Reimer also started all 14 games in 2022, when he was a second-team all-conference selection. He started four games as a redshirt freshman in 2021, and played in every game that season.
He appears to have one season of college eligibility remaining. He has played both guard and tackle at Montana, so he has some versatility.
Reimer also visited Texas Tech as a possible transfer destination. The Red Raiders beat Cal in the Independence Bowl, but the Golden Bears beat Texas Tech for Reimer. Purdue, Oregon State, Boise State and Kansas State were among he other school interested in Reimer as a transfer.
Although Cal's offensive line struggled in the Independence Bowl loss to Texas Tech, the Bears offensive line improved significantly in 2023 after being the team's biggest weakness in recent years.
Mike Bloesch was the Bears' offensive line coach this past season and was elevated to the offensive coordinator position when Jake Spavital left to become Baylor's offensive coordinator.
Bloesch has been an offensive line coach at a number of schools and will continue to be the offensive line coach at Cal, so you can assume he will try to bringx in talented linemen.
