The three-star recruit is Cal's third commitment in the class of 2024.

Cal football picked up its third recruiting commitment to the class of 2024 on Saturday when safety Brooklyn Cheek of Modesto announced he will attend Cal.

Cheek, a 6-foot-2, 180-pounder from Central Catholic High School in the California Centra Valley, is a consensus 3-star prospect.

Cheek committed to Cal immediately after a Saturday campus visit.

He is rated by Rivals as the No. 65 prospect in the state and No. 59 by 247Sports, which also lists him as the No. 78 safety in the country.

He chose Cal over offers from Washington State, Arizona State and Arizona.

Cal previous received commitments from tight end Camden Jones of Pasadena, California, and offensive lineman Tyler Knape of Austin, Texas.

Presuming they formalize their commitments by signing, the trio will arrive at the Berkeley campus in the summer of 2024 prior to the start of fall camp.
