Cal inside linebacker Cade Uluave was named to the 2023 Football Writers' Association of America's Freshman All-America team, which was announced Tuesday. Uluave had previously been named to freshman All-America teams announced by The Athletic and College Football News.
Uluave was the Pac-12 Freshman Defensive Player of the Year after playing in all 13 games, including starts in the final six games of the season. He recorded 66 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
