Cal Football: Safety Raymond Woodie III Enters The Transfer Portal
Cal senior safety Raymond Woodie III, limited by injuries to three games this season, has entered the transfer portal.
Also seeking a new home is redshirt freshman Nunie Tuitele, who saw no action in his two seasons with the Bears.
The two announcements came on the day before the early signing period begins, when the Bears are expected to announce new high school prospects along with four-day transfers.
Woodie, who announced his plans on social media, came to Cal before the 2021 season after two years at Florida State. He played in 25 games for the Bears, all off the bench, compiling 23 tackles with no interceptions.
The 6-foot, 200-pounder had just four tackles this season in three September games but did not appear in a game after that.
Originally a four-star prospect out of Palmetto, Florida, Woodie played 19 games with two starts at FSU in 2019 and ’20, contributing 34 tackles.
Because he played in just three games this season, Woodie retains an additional year of eligibility and will be a sixth-year player at his next stop.
Tuitele, a 6-4, 250-pounder from Auroro, Colorado, was a two-way star at Regis High School, playing edge and tight end. Still just 19, he is listed on Cal’s official roster as a tight end although coach Justin Wilcox was quoted discussing his talents as an edge defender.
