Cal Baseball: Andrew Vaughn's Left Foot Injury Not Serious - X-Ray Was Negative

The White Sox first baseman is day-to-day after fouling a ball of his foot on Tuesday.

X-rays on the left foot of former Cal star Andrew Vaughn were negative on Thursday two days after the Chicago White Sox first baseman fouled a pitch off his foot.

Before getting the news from Chicago’s medical staff, manager Pedro Grifol said, “We’re not anticipating anything wrong, but he was pretty sore.”

Vaughn sat out games Wednesday and Thursday and is listed as day-to-day.

Before being injured, Vaughn was hitting .244 with 12 home runs, 54 RBIs and a .738 OPS. In the 12 games he played in July before the injury, Vaughn was batting .188 (9-for-48) without a home runs and just RBIs.

The No. 3 pick in the 2019 MLB Draft has batted .252 for his career with 44 home runs, 73 doubles and 178 RBIs.

The White Sox closed out a road series vs. the New York Mets on Thursday with a 6-2 victory over the New York Mets. But Chicago remains in fourth place in the AL Central Division with a 41-57 record, nine games back of division-leading Minnesota.
