Stanford Transfer Andrej Stojakovic to Visit Cal This Month
Our site generally does not report campus visits by basketball players in the transfer portal, but we made an exception in the case of Andrej Stojakovic.
Stojakovic, who played at Stanford this past season as a freshman, has put his name in the transfer portal, and reliable college basketball reporter Jon Rothstein reported via twitter on Friday that Stojakovic is scheduled to visit the Cal campus on April 19-20.
This does not necessarily mean that Stojakovic will commit to Cal for next season, but it indicates the Golden Bears and coach Mark Madsen are in the running to land Stojakovic, who is among the highest rated players in the transfer portal.
ESPN places Stojakovic at No. 11 in its rankings of the best players currently in the transfer portal.
ESPN provides this comment: "The son of Peja Stojakovic, he was a McDonald's All American in the 2023 class. Stojakovic had three double-figure-scoring outings in his first four games and scored 20 against USC. Averaged 7.8 points."
Stojakovic’s was one of the nation’s top recruits coming out of high school, as his status as an McDonald’s All-American indicates. However, he started only 10 of the 32 games he played for Stanford this past season and was a 32.7% shooter from three-point range.
The other reason Stojakovic’s interest in Cal is significant is because Madsen needs to rely on the transfer portal to fill his roster next season, which will be the Golden Bears’ first year in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
All five starters from this past year’s team, which went 9-11 in the Pac-12, will not be back for the 2024-25 season. Fardaws Aimaq, Keonte Kennedy and Jalen Kone have run out of eligibility, Jalen Celestine has entered the transfer portal, and Jaylon Tyson has decided to enter the NBA draft and give up his final year of college eligibility.
It means that Cal’s 2024-25 roster has yet to be determined, and adding Stojakovic would be a good start.
