Aziz Bandaogo Reflects on Normal Offseason With Cincinnati
CINCINNATI — Aziz Bandaogo just had a most normal offseason and is ready to be the frontcourt anchor for Cincinnati on both ends. The Senegalese export visited Africa for the first time in a half-decade this summer and got a full dose of the Monster Factory weight program.
"It's great, I'm grateful to be here," Bandaogo told the media on Wednesday. "Last year, I didn't feel like I had a real opportunity (to start the season normally), and now I learned from it and we just grew from it."
The seven-footer doesn't have any waivers to worry about this time around as he looks to elevate a 6.6 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 1.7 BPG stat line from last season.
"It meant a lot," Bandaogo said about the trip home to Africa. "I haven't really seen friends and family in five years, so me being back it was exciting. I was just enjoying the moment to spend time with family and it was really meaningful. There was a lot of times where you really miss home and you have to be the best you can be, so going back home was exciting."
A refreshed Bandaogo looks ready to swat away Big 12 offenses and more this season.
