Simas Lukošius Ready to Carry Shooting Stroke Into 2024-25 Season
CINCINNATI — Simas Lukošius is poised to take on an even bigger role this season. The Bearcats sharpshooter was electric to close the 2023-24 campaign, averaging 16.9 PPG on 41.9% shooting from deep this past March (9.9 attempts per game).
Hitting 85-90% of that level would make him one of the Big 12's best players across this upcoming season. He discussed it all during a media session at Big 12 Media Days.
"Obviously I was frustrated that couldn't be my whole year," Lukošius said about the end-of-season run. "It's natural, it's something that I really wanted to work on, and not just because of the injury and also because consistency has been a thing that I've always wanted to be known to take a big step in from year to year, and hopefully this upcoming year is where I have the most consistency."
The Lithuanian was one of the team's leading scorers in the Ohio State exhibition, guiding a lot of the offense when he was on the floor, an offense that he should thrive in even more with an extra shooter spacing things out.
"We know from last year all of the high moments are just temporary," Lukošius said about any preseason buzz the team is getting. "Coach always talks to us about responding. You don't always respond to the bad moments but respond to the good moments as well."
