The Good, Bad, And Ugly From Cincinnati’s Loss To No. 10 Iowa State

Breaking down the good, bad, and ugly from the tough loss against a very talented Iowa State team.
In this story:

TUNNEL HILL — Cincinnati basketball took another tough loss against an in-conference top-10 program.

The Iowa State Cyclones came out on top in this game 68-59. The Bearcats' record moves to 15-9 overall, making their path to March Madness significantly harder needing to turn up the momentum to make a run to the dance

Here is the Good, Bad, and Ugly from the Cincinnati loss against Iowa State that featured 25 UC turnovers.

The Good: This Cincinnati team performed well in the rebound category as they outboarded the Cyclones 38-24. This was a major part of what kept them in the game at all. They were also fairly consistent from the three-point line as they went 9-23 which totaled a percentage of 39.1%.

The Bad: They didn’t create enough steals to make a huge impact on the defensive side of the ball. Their six steals on the game didn’t play a big enough factor. They also had a few players who didn’t show up in the fashion they should have which made the game tougher all around for the Bearcats. Viktor Lakhin (zero points) continues to struggle in conference play as Cincinnati got just six points from its frontcourt.

The Ugly: If you watched this game you know what’s coming next. The turnovers were flat-out UGLY! You can't expect to win a basketball game with 20+ turnovers. Costly mistakes led to this team losing to Iowa State in a game that would’ve truly helped their March Madness resume.

The Bearcats are set to play against UCF on the road next Saturday needing to start a winning streak at some point in the pursuit of a 5-2 finish (at minimum).
