CINCINNATI —  The Bearcats football program landed a seventh commitment in the 2025 class, this time from local three-star Withrow (Ohio) edge rusher Erik Gayle.

According to 247Sports, Gayle is the 80th-ranked edge rusher nationally and the 53rd-ranked player in Ohio.

He chose Cincinnati over 12 other offers from schools like Bowling Green and Boston College. The 6-3, 215-pound bruiser is officially visiting Cincinnati in early June.

Gayle operates on the outside of either side of the defense as a standup edge rusher. He has sticky hands as a sound wrap tackler and strong burst off the snap to penetrate and disrupt plays before they take shape.

When he doesn't win in the first second of the play, he rarely gets blocked out of it, staying patient while engaged in the block to decipher where the play is going and make something happen. He needs to add weight like most high schoolers entering power conference schools, but all of the tools are there to impact UC.
