In this story:

CINCINNATI — The Bearcats football team made its biggest leap of the season in The Athletic's 1-134 FBS ranking. Chris Vannini boosted them from 73rd to 54th on the list after a 19-13 road win over UCF.

Cincinnati is at its highest spot on this list since Scott Satterfield took over the program as head coach.

The Bearcats are 4-2 on the season with two losses by a combined four points to a 5-1 Texas Tech squad on the road, and a 6-0 Pittsburgh team at home. Things are clearly turning around on the field, and in the locker room where Cincinnati is much more tight knit this season.

That ability to weather storms and fight through adversity is one of the most important intangibles in the sport. UC's figuring it out halfway through the season with just two more wins needed to crack bowl eligibility.
