CINCINNATI — It's official.

UC and Nebraska football are moving the 2025 season opener to Kansas City. UC announced the game is being played at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 25.

It's a big move, changing from Saturday to Thursday and moving away from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis like originally scheduled.

“Opening the 2025 season at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium is an incredible chance to showcase Bearcats football in one of the NFL’s most iconic venues,” University of Cincinnati Director of Athletics John Cunningham said in a press release. “This game is a unique opportunity that not only significantly benefits the program financially but also puts the Bearcats in the national spotlight. This matchup reflects our commitment to thinking big and maximizing possibilities for our program in the ever-changing college athletics landscape.”

UC already has seven home games locked in at Nippert Stadium, so this doesn't change anything on that front. They do not play a true road game in the 2025 non-conference slate, but this certainly feels like one playing much closer to Nebraska.

Cincinnati and Nebraska are also moving the closing game of the series at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln to Sept. 10, 2033, after previously being scheduled to play in the 2032 season.
