CINCINNATI — The Bearcats football team has landed on a new defensive coordinator. According to Bruce Feldman, Scott Satterfield is bringing Louisville defensive coordinator Bryan Brown with him to Clifton.

Brown has been with Satterfield his entire tenure at Louisville and started as the defensive backs coach for the Cardinals in 2018. He arrived at Louisville following six seasons as the cornerbacks' coach at Appalachian State (2012-17).

Like UC's head coach, Brown will not be involved in the Fenway Bowl preparation.

He and Satterfield have a long history working together, and that is picking right back up at Cincinnati. Brown led an impressive unit in 2022 that finished the regular season third in turnovers gained (28), second in sacks per game (3.58), and 12th in tackles for loss per game (7.2).

The Cardinals closed 2022 with the 19th-ranked scoring defense nationally (20.2 PPG) and 34th-ranked total defense (347.1 yards per game). He is ready to continue the Blackcats tradition at Nippert Stadium.

Feldman also reports that current Louisville QBs coach Pete Thomas is joining Satterfield's staff in an unspecified role.

Thomas was a key part of the recruiting braintrust at Louisville, spearheading the California contingent in this year's class. Thomas was an offensive quality control coach at Louisville for two seasons after coming with Satterfield from Appalachian State. He has been the QBs coach since the start of last season.

He should be a great asset on the recruiting trail on top of what ever coaching role he ends up filling. A San Diego native, Thomas primarily recruited three four-star talents from the state into Louisville's 2023 class (WR DeAndre Moore Jr., CB Aaron Williams), plus three-star WR Jahlil McClain.
