Report: UC Hiring Scott Satterfield As Next Head Football Coach
CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Bearcats have found their next head football coach. Louisville head coach Scott Satterfield is taking the job.
The Enquirer's Keith Jenkins reported the news as UC prepares to actually face Louisville during bowl season. Satterfield is 25-24 in four seasons at Louisville and went 47-16 across five seasons at Appalachian State.
Louisville posted a 7-5 record in 2022.
According to Pete Thamel the deal is six-years long and came together late on Sunday night as UC tries to retain its roster in the now-open transfer window.
It makes for an awkward scenario at the 2022 Fenway Bowl, where Satterfield was supposed to coach the Cardinals. That is now up in the air as UC brings in a candidate they believe can recruit at a high level and adapt in the modern world of NIL.
Satterfield has the same buyout as Luke Fickell at $3.5 million. So it will not cost UC additional money to bring in the Louisville head coach.
The 49-year old was a finalist in the Bearcats last hiring cycle, but they landed on Luke Fickell. Satterfield is a growing force in recruiting, which we'll dive into during a later article.
A new era has begun for UC football as they try to build on their most successful stretch ever.
