CINCINNATI — The Bearcats Jordan uniforms are back and so are the double-digit wins. Cincinnati beat the University of Illinois at Chicago 69-58 in Monday night's season opener.

Day Day Thomas led the way with 14 points, three assists and three rebounds in his Bearcats debut. Cincinnati native C.J. Frederick wasn't far behind, finishing with 11 points and a trio of three pointers in the first half.

Cincinnati never trailed in the second half. Head coach Wes Miller was critical of their rebounding. They barely outrebounded UIC (39-36).

Dan Skillings nearly had a double-double, finishing with 13 points and eight rebounds.

The Bearcats shot 5-of-25 (20%) from the 3-point line and 28-of-67 (42%) from the field.

John Newman III also made his presence felt on offense and defense in his return to the court after getting hurt in the opener last season. His first half dunk was the play of the game. He finished with six points and three rebounds. Check out his dunk below.

The Bearcats have won five-straight home openers. They play Detroit Mercy on Friday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at Fifth Third Arena.
