Report: Mick Cronin Signing Contract Extension With UCLA
CINCINNATI — The last coach to lead Cincinnati into the NCAA Tournament just secured a lucrative new deal. UCLA announced that it is signing Mick Cronin to a six-year extension that makes him the highest-paid coach in the PAC-12.
Cronin became UCLA’s head coach on April 9, 2019, and guided the Bruins’ to back-to-back 20-plus-win seasons in 2020-21 and 2021-22. After taking the Bruins to the Final Four last year, Cronin is looking to win the whole thing in 2022.
The hire was a surprise throughout the industry a few years ago, but Cronin's been a home-run hire thus far and is getting rewarded accordingly.
He coached Cincinnati from 2007-19 and is second all-time in wins with a 296-147 record. He only trails his old boss Bob Huggins on the Bearcats' all-time wins list, and his winning percentage is eighth in school history.
