2025 Cornerback Jermaine Jones Talks Cincinnati Bearcats Offer

Jones recaps what makes UC special.
In this story:

TUNNEL HILL — Cincinnati football recently offered another cornerback prospect from the 2025 class. Jermaine Jones is a currently unranked 5-foot-11, 183-pound cornerback recruit from the state of Illinois.

He received his Cincinnati offer in early February and spoke with All Bearcats.

“The offer means everything to me honestly," Jone said. "Knowing that my favorite cornerback came from there and seeing his success makes me really want to surpass his legacy. Cincinnati has definitely been one of my favorite colleges for a long time now.”

Jones had the chance to speak with Coach Veidt when receiving his UC offer.

“I spoke with coach Tyson Veidt, he’s the defensive coordinator and the conversation was amazing," Jones said. "He asked me how everything was going with me and how my family was and it really felt like home. Multiple coaches from there have talked to me and they told me that they look for defensive backs who like to tackle and cover and that’s my whole play style. So I felt like their pitch was perfect for me.”

The Bearcats could be labeled as unique for many reasons and Jones has his.

“One thing I say that makes Cincinnati unique is that the conversations with any coach always started with my family and how they were and how I was and I think in the future that’s going to play a big role in my recruitment process.”

He also goes on to say, “I feel like my play style can shut down a whole side of the field. I believe I’m the best cover corner in the nation and that anybody who lines up in front of me is going to have a problem because nobody will ever outwork me and my ability to shut down my whole side of the field will hopefully put my teammates in better positions to make plays.”

He does plan to visit as well. “Yes I plan to visit, as of right now I don’t have a specific date but they definitely can expect me on campus soon.”
