Three-Star 2025 Edge Rusher Cal Thrush Recaps Past Cincinnati Visits And Offer
TUNNEL HILL — Cincinnati makes it a point to go after their in-state prospects and that's the case with three-star edge rushing prospect Cal Thrush out of Upper Arlington (Ohio). Thrush is a former visitor and had a lot of great things to say about the Bearcats.
“Getting that Cincinnati offer was a big moment for me, I still remember it like it was yesterday,” Thrush stated to All Bearcats. “They were the first big school to reach out to me, and getting that offer gave me a lot of confidence. It was dope to see a whole staff believe in me like that, and I’ll always appreciate that.
"All of my visits to Cincy have been amazing, they treat me like family every time I’m there and I love it. Whether it’s any of the coaches or the recruiting staff, they all know me and interact with me when I see them. Those game-day environments are awesome too, all of Cincinnati comes out for those and it’s a great atmosphere. I was at Nipp at Night this year too and that was a really cool experience.”
He had one coach in particular who's stood out.
“The coach I’m closest with is for sure Coach Stew (Walter Stewart)," Thrush said. "That’s my guy, he’s always showing me love and it really sticks with me. He comes to my school on a handful of occasions as well, and it’s always great to talk to him. He’s a player's coach, and you can really tell he loves what he does. Super energetic, and super passionate about D-Line play. I still remember after camping there this past summer Coach Stew was fired up, and me and my dad went up to his office. This was before he offered and he told me hey I’m fired up about you I can see you in our D-Line room right now.”
Thrush confirmed a Bearcats visit date as well. “I do plan on visiting again. As I said, I feel like a part of the family there, so any time I can get back I will," he said. "I’ll be visiting for spring practice on March 29th, and I’m super pumped to get back down there.”
What makes Cincy unique is how they’re kind of a small school, numbers-wise, but it seems like everyone there is all in on the football team. Along with that their family style culture really sticks out to me. I also love how it’s close to home for me, and I’d be able to get back when I need to. I haven’t started narrowing down schools yet, as I still think a lot could happen, but without a doubt, Cincinnati is one of my top schools. From Day 1 they’ve shown me so much love, and I’ve always been appreciative of how much they believe in me. So whenever I do start narrowing down, they will for sure be one of the top schools on my list.”
