Three-Star 2025 Cincinnati Commit Jermaine Jones: 'I Was Made To Be A Bearcat'

Jermaine Jones talks his commitment.

TUNNEL HILL — The Cincinnati Bearcats landed another 2025 commitment but this time it came from the cornerback position.

Jermaine Jones is a talented three-star (247Sports) defensive back from Bolingbrook High School in Bolingbrook, Illinois. He is ranked 137the among all cornerbacks and 59th in the state of Illinois.

Cincy was the correct choice for me because I feel like I can accomplish my goals there which are playing as a true freshman, becoming defensive player of the year, and helping my team win a bowl game and national championship, and I just feel like with Cincy rebuilding I have a chance to be the leader of the soon to be new and improved Cincy squad,” Jones said to Bearcats Talk.

Jones recalls when he realized he wanted to commit to Cincinnati.

“I wanna say about two weeks maybe after my visit I got a text from one of the coaching staff and he said, 'I was made to be a Bearcat' and that really stuck with me because it made me sit and think about how much I really loved Cincy and how much they really wanted me and I talked to my mom and she also loved Cincy and when my mom loves something it must be good, so that’s when I decided I wanted to be a Bearcat.”

Jones talked about which coaches caught his eye and his answer was quite impressive.

“I would say honestly everyone from the head coach all the way down to the recruiting analysts, they made me feel so welcomed but if I had to pick just one coach it would definitely be coach (Tyson) Veidt. I love his energy and he’s a really cool person to talk to, I like him as a coach and a human being, we’ve had plenty of conversations outside of football so that’s big to me because not many coaches care about your outside life.

“I plan to bring a national championship, when Sauce (Gardner) was there everybody talked about Cincy and they had a certain swagger about them and I plan to bring that back but even better!”

He does claim his recruitment isn’t completely shut down however he leaves us off with a reassuring statement.

“I wouldn’t say my recruitment is 100% shut down because nothing is certain but I do love Cincy so if another college wants to recruit they would have to bring their A-game.”
