Collegiate Baseball Names Two Clemson Players First-Team All Americans
Caden Grice and Billy Amick. If you paid attention to any Clemson baseball game this year those two names were probably the ones that consistently came up most on your broadcast, especially when good things were happening. Now there's one more place you'll be seeing their names and that's on the Collegiate Baseball First Team All-American list.
Amick, while also manning the infield defensively, is hitting .418 with 12 homers, two triples, 17 doubles, 58 RBIs, 36 runs, a .778 slugging percentage, a .464 on-base percentage, and two steals in 43 games (39 starts). He was also a First-Team All-ACC selection.
Grice has been known for his outstanding play on both sides of the ball as he pitched and on his off days you could find him over at first base. He is 8-1 with a 3.25 ERA, .195 opponents’ batting average and 91 strikeouts against 32 walks in 69.1 innings pitched over 13 starts on the mound. At the plate, he is hitting .302 with 16 homers, a triple, 13 doubles, 63 RBIs, 56 runs, a .409 on-base percentage, and three steals in 56 games (55 starts). He was named MVP of the ACC Tournament and nominated as one of the 25 finalists for the coveted USA Today Golden Spike Award, given to the nation's best player overall.
Both players become Clemson’s 65th and 66th All-Americans in team history and the 30th and 31st first-team All-Americans. This was the first time since 2018 that the Tigers had multiple All-Americans in the same season and the first season since 2016 that the 1st team held multiple Tigers' names on it.
You can watch both players in action on June 2nd as they begin their home regional against Lipscomb.
