CLEMSON--The Clemson Tigers losing streak climbed to eight games, as they dropped the first of two midweek games this week to the Winthrop Eagles by a final score of 8-6 Tuesday night at Doug Kingsmore Stadium

The Eagles jumped on top of the Tigers in the first inning, as they plated three runs on three hits--including a three-run double by Grant English--that gave the Eagles a 3-0 lead.

The Tigers answered the three-run inning of the Eagles with a five-run first inning of their own. After Logan Davidson walked and advanced to second on a balk, Grayson Byrd doubled to score the first run of the game. Walks to Kyle Wilkie and Davis Sharpe loaded the bases and the Tigers added another run on Bo Majkowski's groundout to first base. James Parkers' single plated two additional runs before Parker was caught stealing on a play that scored the Tigers' final run of the inning.

The Eagles added single runs in the third inning and the sixth inning that tied the game 5-5.

The Tigers took the lead again in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Adam Hackenburg's RBI double gave the Tigers a 6-5 lead.

However, the Eagles responded with three runs over the next two innings that gave them a 8-6 lead.

Dalton Whitaker (2-1) earned the win by pitching 2.2 innings in relief, while Colten Rendon pitched the ninth inning to record his fourth save of the year. Owen Griffith (1-2) suffered the loss.
