Andrew Mukuba has a new home
Former Clemson safety Andrew Mukuba, the No. 1 rated safety in the transfer portal and No. 14 player overall, committed to Texas on Monday and will wear a darker shade of orange next season.
Mukuba spent three seasons in Death Valley and played in every game he was healthy from the moment he stepped on campus. His first season resulted in a freshman All-American berth and he went on to be a steady presence in the back end for the two years following that.
Throughout three seasons, the safety tallied 149 tackles, 1 sack, 20 pass deflections, 2 fumbles recoveries, and 1 interception. Those numbers came during the course of 35 games played and 31 started.
The former five-star recruit was a key piece of Clemson's secondary, but a move to Austin may have been what he felt he needed to improve his draft stock. Whatever the reason he will be a player that Dabo Swinney and his staff will now have to replace. Another day in the new age of college football.
