Clemson Football: Barrett Carter shares his thoughts on new offense

Barrett Carter gave his take on how the new offense is coming together in camp

By the time the 2023 season kicks off, there may be no group of players more ready to go out and prove themselves than the Clemson offense. It's been an oft-questioned and much-maligned group for the past couple of seasons but with a new starting quarterback, offensive coordinator, and fresh energy all the questions are ready to be answered.

Barrett Carter, one of Clemson's star linebackers, was asked about the offense after the end of last week and what he sees the differences are to this point. His answer should be encouraging to fans who are looking for positive signs. "Yeah I really just feel like the camaraderie within the offense has been second to none," Carter started. "Especially coming in with a new OC, new quarterback, I think the vibe over there has just been different."

Usually, the inside linebackers are the quarterbacks of the defense and so Carter has had to direct his defense against new starting quarterback Cade Klubnik for some time now and said this about his practice opposition, "Cade has taken that role and he's ran with it. He's really leading, he's using his voice and the other guys are listening to him even if it's a freshman or a 5th-year senior they're listening to Cade because that's the guy. But it's been great to see Cade just step up into that leadership role and command the attention of the offense because other guys, they go as he goes. So just to see him step up like that it's going to help the offense but it's going to help defense and special teams as well."

It's never a guarantee but if you can get an offense with a QB who's ready to lead and others are willing to follow within a group dynamic where everyone is working for one another then that's a really positive sign about a potential big step the new and improved Tiger offense could take on the field this fall.
