Who are the names that could be threats to the Clemson Tigers' defense this Saturday? The FAU Owls are sitting at 1-1 heading into week 3 with their latest effort resulting in a 17-10 loss against Miami (Ohio).

Here's who's given their best performances so far this year:

Quarterback Casey Thompson (FAU Athletics)
Quarterback Casey Thompson (FAU Athletics)

Passing: QB Casey Thompson

  • The 2-time transfer comes into his first year at Florida Atlantic in his 5th year of college ball. He's a guy that's played a lot of football at Texas in 2021 and Nebraska in 2022 so there's plenty of experience at the Power 5 level. The first 2 games as an Owl have had very mixed results but he's got the talent to make big plays.
  • Season Stats: 460 yards passing, 64.2% completion, 5 touchdowns and 3 interceptions

Running: RB Larry McCammon

  • The 5th year senior with the rare feat of all 5 years coming at FAU. He rushed for over 1,000 yards in 2022 and he decided to come back this season for more. Started off strong with 125 yards and a TD against Monmouth in week 1 but the Bobcats of Miami held him to just 23 yards, obviously below his average.
  • Season stats: 20 carries for 148 yards and 1 touchdown. 7 catches for 75 yards.

Receiving: WRs LaJohntay Wester and Tony Johnson

  • Both of these guys have had strong performances to start the year as the duo have both gone over 100 yards through 2 games and have accounted for 3 of the 5 touchdowns caught so far for the Owls. Wester, the junior, and Johnson, the sophomore, will draw most of the Tigers' secondary's eyes.
  • Season Stats: Wester - 18 catches for 156 yards and 1 touchdown.
  • Johnson - 8 catches for 119 yards and 2 touchdowns.
