Clemson Rookie Update: Preseason Week 1
Here's a rundown of how all the Clemson rookies did this past week to kick off the preseason.
In this story:
While we're still a couple of weeks away from the college season kicking off, the NFL Preseason is in full swing. While they admittedly don't count, these games certainly matter to any young player trying to make a roster or rookie trying to find their role on their respective team.
Here's how Clemson's rookies fared in their first preseason action.
- Myles Murphy (Cincinnati Bengals): 2 Tackles, 1 Solo
- Murphy is currently running 2nd string behind Sam Hubbard at defensive end but made a couple of plays in his first game against the Saints. The talented pass rusher should see his snaps increase as time goes on.
- Bryan Bresee (New Orleans Saints): No stats recorded but did play 25 snaps which were tied for the highest percentage of defensive snaps played on the team.
- Bresee certainly got an extended run against the Bengals and while no stats were recorded his impact was certainly felt on the field. A very promising start for Bresee. He is also currently 2nd on the depth chart behind defensive tackle Nathan Shepherd
- Trenton Simpson (Baltimore Ravens): Sat out week 1 due to injury.
- Simpson didn't play in his team's first preseason matchup but did return to the practice field this week and has been drawing rave reviews since coming back. Look for his debut this weekend.
- KJ Henry (Washington Commanders): 1 tackle
- Henry received 26 snaps in his team's win over the Browns. The defensive end is currently running 3rd on the depth chart behind Chase Young and James Smith-Williams
- Jordan McFadden (Los Angeles Chargers): Played 37 snaps which amounted to 58% of the offensive snaps for the game.
- McFadden is currently 2nd on the depth chart at left guard behind Zion Johnson. The o-line allowed 4 sacks in Week 1
- Davis Allen (Los Angeles Rams): Allen didn't play any snaps during Week 1.
- The tight end is running 4th-string for the Rams right now although 3rd stinger Hunter Long is currently out. Tyler Higbee and Brycen Hopkins are the other 2 tight ends. None of the top 4 tight ends played in Week 1, so we'll see if that changes against the Raiders on Saturday
