Updates from Clemson's Orange and White Spring Game

1st Quarter

  • White team with the first possession on offense.
  • After picking up a first down, Cade Klubnik's first drive with the White team stalls out. CJ Spiller (White team head coach) elects to punt.
  • Orange team on offense.
  • Hunter Helms in at quarterback first for the Orange team.
  • A couple of nice first downs for the Orange team. Domonique Thomas, a transfer running back, shows some shiftiness, picking up a long gain. Tight end Sage Ennis catches a long one from Helms for a 3rd down conversion.
  • Liam Boyd nails a 51-yard field goal. (Orange 3 - White 0)
  • White team on offense.
  • Toriano Pride Jr. makes a nice play to break up a pass from Cade Klubnik to Cole Turner.
  • Klubnik finds Jake Briningstool over the middle for a first down.
  • Klubnik drills another one over the middle to sophomore tight end Banks Pope.
  • Barrett Carter sacks Cade Klubnik.
  • Phil Mafah breaks out of a tackle for a loss, picking up 20+ yards. He punches it in from the 3 on the next play. Robert Gunn III hits the PAT (White 7 - Orange 3)

  • Orange team goes three and out. Likely would've picked up a first down on a quarterback run, but the purple non-contact jersey stops Vizzina short of the first.

  • Cade Klubnik takes a big "sack" back inside the 5-yard line.

2nd Quarter

  • On 3rd and 20, Cade Klubnik finds Briningstool for a 17-yard gain. White team punts.
  • Orange team on offense
  • Thomas finds a crease on a counter. Picks up a big gain to the 50.
  • Cade Denhoff sacks Christopher Vizzina. Orange team punts.
  • White team on offense
  • Klubnik finds Banks Pope over the middle for a first down.
  • Briningstool makes a nice grab for a first down, pulling the ball away from a defender.
  • Klubnik throws a timing route to Antonio Williams for a 15-yard pickup. White team inside the 10.
  • Jeremiah Trotter Jr. takes down Phil Mafah for a 2-yard loss.
  • R.J. Mickens breaks up a pass to Pope.
  • White team goes for it on 4th down. R.J. Mickens intercepts Cade Klubnik's pass after Jamal Anderson Jr. tips it at the line.

  • Shelton Lewis breaks up a third-down pass. Orange team punts.

  • Andrew Mukuba intercepts a Klubnik pass after Nate Wiggins breaks it up. Mukuba takes it inside the 5-yard line.

  • Stephiylan Green makes a nice play from his defensive tackle position. Penetrating into the backfield.
  • RJ Mickens with another great play, forcing another three and out.

  • Hunter Helms with a nice completion to Josh Sapp over the middle for a big gain. Team forced to punt three plays later.
  • White team on offense
  • Phil Mafah busts a run to left. White team now in the hurry up with less than a minute.
  • Klubnik hits Banks Pope for a 10-yard gain. Klubnik sacked by Peter Woods and Armon Mason on the next play.
  • Stephiylan Green sacks Klubnik to end the first half.

3rd Quarter

  • Orange team on offense
  • Orange team goes three and out.
  • Trent Pearman in at quarterback. Completes his first pass to Jackson Crosby.
  • Pearman hits Zach Jackson for a first down across the 50.
  • Orange team forced to punt. Ball goes into the endzone for a touchback.
  • White team on offense
  • Led by Christopher Vizzina, the white team goes three and out and punts.
  • Orange team on offense - running clock now in effect.
  • Cade Klubnik back in at quarterback
  • Peter Woods penetrates into the backfield, causing a loss.
  • White team goes three and out, forced to punt.
  • Orange team on offense
  • Hunter Helms in at quarterback
  • Noble Johnson picks up a first down on a bubble screen.
  • Hampton Earle busts a big gain down the sideline after a bubble screen. Exits the game with a lower-body injury.
  • Quinn Castner hits a 32-yard field goal. (Orange 13 - White 7)

4th Quarter

  • White team on offense
  • Klubnik in at quarterback as they try to mount a comeback.
  • Keith Adams Jr. picks up a first down off the left edge.
  • Keith Adams Jr. with another big pick up, this time of the right edge.
  • Klubnik scrambles and picks up 10 on 4th and 5.
  • Banks Pope catches a drag route, and picks up 25 yards down to the 5.
  • Keith Adams Jr. bangs it in from 3 yards out. Robert Gunn III has his PAT blocked by Peter Woods. (Orange 13 - White 13)
  • Orange team on offense
  • Hunter Helms in at quarterback. Completes a big pass to Noble Johnson.
  • Orange team drive stalls. Forced to punt.
  • White team on offense
  • Klubnik hits Banks Pope for a big gain.
  • Drive stalls for the White team. Dabo Swinney says he's currently trying to figure out what he will do if the game ends in a tie.
  • Orange team on offense
  • Christopher Vizzina in at quarterback.
  • Vizzina picked off by Khalil Barnes for a pick-6. Robert Gunn III hits the PAT (Orange 13 - White 20)
