College football experts project a New Year's Six appearance for Clemson this fall.
Clemson is no stranger to the New Year's Six. The Tigers have played in eleven College Football Playoff games, including six Playoff Semifinals, and four National Championship appearances. Now, after an Orange Bowl appearance last season, Clemson is trying to get back to the semifinals for the first time in two years, but will they be able to?
According to ESPN's bowl projections, the Tigers will go a third consecutive year without making the semis. ESPN writers Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach have Clemson making the New Year's Six but missing out on the title hunt. Bonagura has Clemson projected to take on Ohio State in the Capital One Orange Bowl in Miami. Meanwhile, Schlabach has the Tigers taking on Alabama in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta.
Both matchups would be great, Clemson has a decorated history with both teams, but a third-straight year of not even being in the hunt for a title would be devastating for Clemson, especially if, as Bonagura has projected, Florida State makes the CFP.
Clemson is currently the favorite to win the ACC according to BetMGM, but many analysts believe the 'Noles will knock the Tigers off their throne in 2023.
