Dabo Swinney gives update on injured Tigers for North Carolina week
Another week, another round of injury updates for this banged-up Clemson team.
In this story:
This may not be the biggest game remaining on Clemson's schedule - that would be next week's tilt against South Carolina - but Saturday's matchup against 8-2 North Carolina is a chance for this Clemson team to finish the season .500 in ACC play. The Tigers haven't finished under .500 in conference play since 1998.
UNC has been a ranked team all year long and to get the win and finish out conference play strong would give a real boost to the efforts of this program in the offseason. With that being said, Clemson will need all hands on deck for this one on Saturday. Here's what Dabo Swinney had to say when asked about some key injuries for his team:
- Barrett Carter: "(He's been looking) Good. He's been day-to-day and getting a little better each day."
- Tyler Venables: "Yeah, he's back. They released him this week so he's back and will be available. Obviously, he hasn't played but he did scout team last week. In fact he was scout team player of the week."
- Jalyn Phillips: "No, he's still out."
- Sheridan Jones: "We think Sheridan has a chance. So hopefully he'll maybe be available."
- Antonio Williams: "He's progressing. So, I mean if he plays it would be next week. I don't see him playing this week but he's progressing. For sure the bowl game I think."
- Marcus Tate: "We're hopeful we can get Marcus Tate back for the bowl."
- Brannon Spector: "Spec (hopeful to be) back for the bowl."
