What They Had to Say: Thomas and Klubnik React to Spring Game
Clemson fans got their first taste of new offensive coordinator Garrett Riley's system on Saturday at the Orange and White Spring Game. Quarterback Cade Klubnik and running back Domonique Thomas, who led the team in rushing with 63 yards, caught up with the media after the game to discuss the new offense.
Domonique Thomas - 14 carries, 63 yards, 1 TD
- "I feel like it's been very balanced. We're going to be very explosive in the air, very explosive in the run game." - Thomas on the offense being an "air raid" system.
- "I just felt like we were executing all spring on the ground. I just wanted to come in today and not press, not do anything I haven't done all spring. I stuck to the fundamentals and played football." - Thomas on leading the team in rushing.
Cade Klubnik - 18-33, 190 yards, 2 INT
"Lots of ups and downs, but I think as a whole, just super excited to put some long drives together. Had some big plays. Had a couple of good scrambles, but overall I feel like we had great protection up front." Klubnik on the offense's performance.
"The DBs on the other side, that's the best I've ever seen them play. I think they did a heck of a job." - Klubnik on the starting secondary.
"They had a heck of a day today. I think the best part of our offense is we're going to spread the ball out. We're going to be able to throw it to every single receiver and run it at the same time. I think they'll get used a lot, but we're not going to target them the whole time." - Klubnik on the performances from tight ends Jake Briningstool and Banks Pope.
