Clemson will feature one of the top defensive line units in the country. With the return Tyler Davis, Ruke Orhorhoro, and Xavier Thomas, the front seven has a ton of experience. With that said, depth is everything upfront. The Tigers have a group of freshman defensive linemen that will push for playing time, and according to ESPN, one of them could be the best in the country.

ESPN analyst Tom Luginbill named Clemson's Peter Woods to the site's Preseason Freshman All-American team. Woods, the No. 4 player in the 2023 class, was one of the biggest stars of the spring, sacking the quarterback multiple times in the spring game and blocking a kick.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has been high on Woods since his arrival. "I’d say he’s ahead of [where Christian Wilkins and Bryan Bresee were as freshmen]. He’s ahead of them in that both of those guys played at really small [high] schools. Peter’s one of the strongest kids on the team right now. He played 7A football in Alabama. He played in 5 state championships in a row and won four of them in a row at Thompson high school. He’s just played at a really high level. He’s further along as a football player but has all the things you love about a Bryan or a Christian." said Swinney.

Woods will get a ton of snaps, as will fellow freshmen TJ Parker, Vic Burley, and Stephiylan Green.
