How does Cade Klubnik's first-year starting stack up against former Clemson quarterbacks?

2023 was supposed to be the season Cade Klubnik ascended to the top of the sport. Instead, we've seen the offense regress.
In this story:

The expectations at the quarterback position at Clemson have skyrocketed in the Dabo Swinney era since Tajh Boyd helped get Clemson back into the national scene. Following Boyd was Deshaun Watson who was a star the moment he stepped foot on campus. Delivering a championship, Watson elevated Clemson to the peak of the sport. Trevor Lawernce came around and continued the success, delivering another championship to Clemson. Both quarterbacks showed that Clemson was a place to be. As the No. 1 rated quarterback in the class of 2022, the expectation for Klubnik was set as soon as he committed.

Lawrence's first full season starting stats - 65.2 comp %, 3,280 passing yards 30 passing TDS

Watson's first full season starting stats - 67.8 comp %, 4,104 passing yards, and 35 passing TDS

Klubnik's through 10 (including ACC Championship and Orange Bowl) games - 63 comp %, 2,546 passing yards, 14 touchdowns, 7 interceptions

With Clemson, 4-4 Klubnik is seeing some heat for his decision-making that has cost Clemson games against. Nine turnovers for a quarterback who is being held to the standard that he is just isn't acceptable. Klubnik at times has looked tremendous having great anticipation and being an improviser, extending plays for his playmakers on the outside. In other games, he has been a liability.

Klubnik is on a time crunch to really prove himself that he can grow into the caliber of a quarterback that Tiger fans are accustomed to. Seeing what Lawernce and Watson did in their first full year of significant playing time showed that they flourished in big moments. Seeing a glimpse is not enough for Tigers fans. Klubnik needs to step up.
