Myles Murphy Moving Forward With NFL Draft Visits
Myles Murphy has long been considered one of the 2023 NFL Draft class' true athletic freaks but due to injuries and some up-and-down production this past season, the round in which he would be selected was not known for sure. However, it seems as if an outstanding pro day has brought the momentum back towards the elite Tiger's defensive lineman.
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport tweeted just Monday evening that Murphy's Pro Day seems to have solidified his standing as a first-round draft pick. He followed that bit of good news with the intriguing information of a visit Myles is taking Monday with Jacksonville Jaguars, who currently hold the 24th pick and are quarterbacked by former Clemson legend Trevor Lawrence. That would certainly be a fun reunion to watch for the Tiger faithful every Sunday.
A few other teams were mentioned by Rapoport as well to have scheduled visits with Murphy. The Cincinnati Bengals, who hold the 28th overall pick, the Houston Texans, who control both the 2nd and 12th overall selections, and finally the Atlanta Falcons with their 8th overall pick. The Falcons' visit is intriguing because Murphy has been slotted there in previous mock drafts and fan favorite, and former Tiger, Grady Jarrett is still the leader of that defensive line. Murphy is also from the metro Atlanta area, so you can imagine he would probably appreciate a homecoming to start his professional career.
There will probably be more visits reported in the near future but it appears as if Myles and his team may be able to start zeroing in on where his future home to play football could be. The NFL Draft is just a couple of weeks away and the anticipation for April 27th grows all the more with each new bit of news.
