Clemson is almost unanimously ranked as a top-10 team heading into the 2023 season. The Tigers are stacked on defense and have plenty of blue-chippers for new offensive coordinator Garrett Riley to utilize on that side of the ball, but according to a new ranking, only 2 Tigers are among the elite players in the country.

With 100 days until college football returns, On3 released their list of their top 100 players in college football. No Tigers made the top 20, as linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr. was the first Clemson player on the list at No. 24. The only other Clemson player to make the list was Trotter's fellow linebacker Barrett Carter at No. 55.

Carter and Trotter are certainly deserving of the rankings - and should probably be higher - but are they the only Clemson players worthy of making the list? The most glaring omission was running back Will Shipley. 10 running backs made the list, but Shipley. who has averaged 5+ yards per touch and 11+ touchdowns the last 2 seasons wasn't among them.

Georgia had 7, as did Ohio State and Michigan. Alabama had 5. Clemson's chief competition in the ACC this year, Florida State, had 5 in the top 80.
