Superheroes? Clemson's defensive linemen looking to make a name for themselves in 2023.
Certain schools have developed reputations for developing elite prospects at certain positions. Whether that's Alabama's running back room, UGA's tight end group, Ohio State's wide receivers, or even just Lincoln Riley himself with quarterbacks, certain names bring immediate respect. Clemson's defensive line is certainly in that group.
Between the 2023 draft class, where Myles Murphy and Bryan Bresee both went in the 1st round, along with KJ Henry in the 5th and the 2019 class which had Clelin Ferrell, Christian Wilkins, and Dexter Lawrence all come off the board before the 18th pick, not to mention Austin Bryant in the 4th round, there's plenty of guys in the league to prove what standard the Tigers hold that position group to.
Tyler Davis, who decided to return for the 2023 season, spoke at the ACC Kickoff on what makes this group so special and what he sees for him and his teammates in the near future. "Just our culture, just holding each other accountable, the next group is always trying to make a name for themselves," the senior said. What kind of name exactly? Davis continued, "We went from the Power Rangers to the Avengers so hopefully we add something new this year, hopefully a name this year." The Justice League can't be considered until the movies get better right?
With veteran guys like Davis, Ruke Orhorhoro, Justin Mascoll, and Xavier Thomas this group will be able to inspire fear against any offensive line no matter what they call themselves. When the next wave of guys on that depth chart were brought up there was a visible excitement in Davis' answer as well, "Peter Woods is definitely going to be one as well as Vic Burley, Stephiylan Green, TJ Parker they're all going to be big names. Especially Peter. Peter is definitely going to be a dude for real."
