Top performers for Clemson through four games
Two losses in four games certainly wasn't the plan for Clemson. The Tigers had postseason aspirations prior to the season that now are all but out of reach. Though performance has been inconsistent across the board for the Tigers, there have been some standouts that have shown through.
Freshman defensive end T.J. Parker has been a revelation for the Tigers. Through four games, Parker has played roughly half of Clemson's defensive snaps and leads the team in tackles for loss (5.5). Parker feels like a throwback player for Clemson, someone who would've fit in well with the 2016-2019 defensive lines for the Tigers. Expect his snap share to increase as he gets used to playing at the Power Five level.
Will Shipley continues to be Clemson's safety net. The offense has relied on him to jumpstart it whenever it falls into lulls. Shipley is currently averaging 117.3 yards per game and has come up with big play after big play when Clemson needed it.
Barrett Carter and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. have lived up to the hype, surprising no one. Trotter currently leads the team in tackles (23) and quarterback pressures (7) and is second in tackles for loss (5). Carter meanwhile has been outstanding pass coverage this year. Teams have tried to exploit him in coverage by sending running backs and tight ends after him in one-on-one and he's answered the call more often than not. He trails only Trotter with 19 total tackles.
