"We can beat these guys." Syracuse QB confident his team can take down Clemson
Confidence is an important attribute for any quarterback and Syracuse's Garrett Shrader isn't lacking for it. Now a fifth-year senior, Schrader has led his Syracuse Orange to a perfect record through four weeks. They'll get a chance to put that record on the line when they kick off conference play against Clemson (2-2, 0-2 ACC) this Saturday at noon.
"Last year, we played Clemson we had six or seven starters out - and they were done for the year," said Shrader. "We got the depth, we got guys coming back. We got everything we need. Now we got to just go out and play and we're talented enough and we can do it. So just got to make sure we show up ready to play on Saturday, and we can go out. We can beat these guys."
Syracuse has played Clemson close the past few years - the last two games have been decided by one score - and Garrett Shrader has performed well in those games. Last year, Shrader scored through the air and on the ground but he has been intercepted by Clemson each time he's played them. Shrader spoke about the matchup against Clemson's defense.
"I mean, they're doing a little bit different things, same DC [Wes Goodwin], but, it's, you know, it's just a different game plan and we got different personnel. So that's exciting. We can do a little more. And so we're gonna take that and run with it.
