Social media can be a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, it brings the world together like never before. On the other, it gives people a platform to say whatever they want to behind the protection of anonymity.

One thing it does offer that is always fun is the ability for people in the public eye to provide a retort for slander. Instead of angry mobs or trolls just yelling into the void, the joke's target can respond in turn. Take what happened on Twitter this Wednesday for example.

A Florida State fan account posted a clip of Sammy Brown from a football camp early this summer. The nine-second video shows Brown, a five-star linebacker out of Jefferson, Georgia, lining up against FSU commit Kameron Davis, a four-star running back out of Moultrie, Georgia, during a one-on-one drill. Davis is able to haul in a catch on a flag route against Brown. The tweet states "Hold on…. That’s the LB committed to Clemson???? Mane I been told y’all.", seemingly implying that Brown isn't worthy of his lofty rankings.

Had this been posted to a message board in prior years, it likely would've gotten plenty of attention from Florida State and Clemson fans, but this is 2023, and athletes have joined that party. Sammy Brown responded from his account, clapping back at the post sarcastically. "Can't believe I'm not allowed to lose a rep at a offensive focused camp" responded Brown.

It's all in good fun. With Florida State's resurgence, the next few years should be fun to watch between the 'Noles and the Tigers. A little added banter between players and fans never hurt anyone.
